It seems today that almost everyone you know from the youngest to the oldest woman has their own story and conclusions about Botox treatment. The result has been there are many myths flying out there about what Botox is and what it is not. So how do you get to differentiate and know what to believe and what to leave alone? Sometimes it is possible people will confuse the Botox that is used for cosmetic purposes with its counterpart that is used for medical purposes. Let’s take a ride together and get to learn more.

May be it should be said that most of the rumors that do rounds all over town are not really about the thousands of women who use Botox treatment to treat their wrinkles and fine lines. It could well be some celebrities somewhere who are addicted to Botox and other similar treatments and who get so scared that their faces could reveal their true age so that they end up distorting what we really need to know about some anti-aging solutions like Botox.

Myth: Botox cosmetics are not safe because it is too new and not much is known about the procedure anyway

Fact: Botox cosmetics have been approved for use by several nations in the world and have been in use for over 18 years now.  It is a purified protein and a medical prescription product and has been in use for over 18 years for even other therapeutic treatments for a variety of other conditions.

Myth: Botox treatment will cause your face to have a frozen look or an unnatural startled look.

Fact: This is a technique sensitive procedure. When it is administered by a qualified doctor, the results will be natural and the consumers can never loose the ability to show expression. Botox cosmetics are used to soften wrinkles and always give natural looking results. The experience has always been that after treatments the consumers have natural look that is more youthful and relaxed.

Myth: There are creams out there that are better than Botox

Fact: The real myth may be regarding those creams since there is no clinical evidence that they work better than Botox, let alone working at all. Topical creams do an excellent job on the surface of the skin. Botox cosmetic works very well below the skin’s surface to relax the muscles that that cause the wrinkles and the lines to form.  A recent test that was conducted on the efficacy of some anti-wrinkle creams on the market showed that even the best of them reduced wrinkles by only less than 10 percent, a magnitude of change that may not be visible to the naked eye and even the luxury brands that cost a fortune were not better than those brands that were acquired at the regular stores at much lesser prices.

Myth: Botox cosmetic is a filer.

Fact: Unlike the fillers, Botox does not fill in the facial lines. Botox works by relaxing the muscles below the skin that cause frown lines between the eyebrows, crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles. Botox treatments that are performed around the eyes can always be used in combination with dermal facial fillers which are normally used around the nose and mouth for total rejuvenation.

Myth: Botox Cosmetic is too expensive.

Fact: The price of a Botox procedure will range somewhere between $400 to $600, which is considerably fair to may people.  In fact when it is compared with the prices of other beauty regimens and treatments they same to range just about the same

Myth: Botox Cosmetic is only for vain people.

Fact: Botox treatment is simply an individual choice for everyone to make. Recent surveys have showed that majority of people want to look younger, refreshed and less tired that the age they represent.

Myth: Botox Cosmetic can be administered by anyone in an aesthetic setting.

Fact: Botox treatments and cosmetics should be administered only by experienced cosmetic surgeons, dermatologist, and general practitioners with a specialty in aesthetics and in appropriate medical settings.

Myth: Botox Cosmetic is only for old people.

Fact: Any one who wants to enhance their self esteem and appearance by removing premature signs of aging is a good candidate for Botox treatment and cosmetics.

Myth: If I stop using Botox my face will look different than it was before

Fact: The effects of Botox usually last an average of four os so months. When this wears off your face will return to its pretreatment condition. Many people choose to continue the treatment which makes it about three to four times a year.
