Botox is made from Botulinum Toxin Type, a protein complex produced by bacterium, which has a similar toxin result to food poisoning.  When it is administered in small doses, this bacterium blocks the release of a chemical known as acetylcholine that has a relation to the nerve cells. This blocks all electrical messages by the brain to the muscles that contract and move. Because these messages are blocked there is less of a chance of developing wrinkles and fine lines. The toxin was originally intended for the treatment of eye spasms and eye misalignments it was approved for cosmetic procedures in 2002.

The Procedure

The procedure will generally take about 30 minute and the results will last anywhere between 3 and 6 months, when it must repeated again if the results are desired still.

The Benefits of Botox

While the process will not eradicate the obvious signs of aging, it will greatly reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines, smooth wrinkles and even prevent fresh ones from appearing. The skin will often appear smoother and youthful in nature. The results of Botox treatment will become noticed in between 1 nand 2 weeks.
