Men today are taking their rightful place and are being counted in matters beautiful, or should we say handsome. A few years ago it was unheard of for a man to even think of applying anything on their face unless it was aftershave. Good looks do not only belong to the girls and men are doing pretty well in that field, albeit the numbers are a little small. In order to assist them man appear presentable and attractive, here are some important tips that are so easy to follow for any man who is putting on makeup.
As much as wearing of cosmetics is crossing the gender barrier progressively take note that there a few differences between men and women; this makes the process of application of makeup to be slightly different from that of women. The essential tips for a successful application are simple and easy to follow.
First and foremost is the need to have a clean face before you do any business on it. A clear skin is the foundation for those handsome looks and so before any makeup hits your face you need to have a clean, clear shaven face. It is important to wait for at least 20 minutes after you shave before you begin your assignment. As you get your shave you will want to get as clean a shave as you possibly can.
1. Wash your face
Once the 20 minutes are over you then need to wash your face using some lukewarm water and an exfoliator. Using an exfoliator immediately after shaving is likely to cause some irritation on your face. The exfoliator removes dead cells from your face, and this you can do by using circular movements as you wash your face. This can very easily be done in the shower the moment you wake up.
2. Next spray on a toner
Assuming you already know your skin type, then apply an appropriate skin toner for the restoration of the natural pH level of your skin. This removes any remaining dirt or dead cells from your face. A good toner helps to minimize pores and keep off the oil during the day leaving your skin feeling refreshed throughout
3. Then apply a moisturizer
Then next step is to use a moisturizer that has a sun protection factor (SPF) of between 15 and 30 and then give your face sometime to absorb the moisturizer. The moisturizer you will apply will also be determined by the type of your skin. If you have a naturally dry skin you will need a moisturizer that keeps your pores locked to keep skins natural moisture whereas oily skin requires an oil control lotion rather than a moisturizer.
4. Apply a concealor
After this you are now ready to apply a concealor once again determined by your skin type. This you can do using a specialized brush or the tip of your finger and it helps to hide any flaws, discoloration and other scars just like that. This conceals all skin imperfections such as acne, dark circles and etc. just remember to select a concealor that is close to your skin tone or one that is just slightly brighter. Take caution not to apply it on cuts and any unhealed wounds. You may want to add just a little face powder on your nose and forehead to give you a perfect all round effect.
5. The foundation
If you decide to use a foundation together with the concealor than just apply it directly on the skin all you need is just a thin layer that can be blended into the skin with your fingertips or a special cosmetic sponge. Just go slow when you come to your hairline, beard or the eyebrows. Again the foundation needs to match the tone of your skin and also select the right one for your skin type. The difference is made when you have the right color and the right formula as the application will just go smoothly.
6. Taking care of your lips
When it comes to your lips, you do not want to walk with dry cracked lips so give yourself some good application of a neutral and clear colored lip balm. This will protect your lips from getting freckled and chapped and adds a smooth clear appearance to them.
You may finally need to top up everything with a light application of some loose talcum powder. Do not overdo it as it will make it obvious to anyone that some make has been applied.
7. Keep your hands off your face
One thing you will need to remember is to avoid touching your face throughout the day after you do your makeup. This will help keep off any dirt and ensure that your makeup stay on for the whole day. any touching will simply clear it off and leave you with some patches here and there, which may require some retouching, which I am sure many men will not enjoy.
As you can see, applying makeup as a man is not rocket science and just anyone who invests just a few minutes everyday is going to greatly enhance his image. The above simple steps will give you that stunning look and boost your ego and self esteem as well, this together with protecting your skin.
