There seems to be a lot of hair that we will always want to get rid of. Whether it is hair on the face, legs, armpits, bikini line or other body parts many women, and now men are waking up to it are now very committed to have the hair on their heads the only visible heir. Al the other areas would rather be kept clean and flawless. There are many options when it comes to methods of dealing with all that unwanted hair but just a few them can do what could qualify to be called a permanent job.

Get rid of the hair now

Because there are numerous methods that are available, it is always good for any woman or man to know all the methods and then they choose the method, or combination of methods that are best fro them of course depending on issues like cost, skin type and time available, and the area that we desire to declare hair free.

Bleaching

This may not necessarily be a hair removal method, but is is a way of making your hair less noticeable. It works very well for the areas of the body where that have thin, but dark hair that is therefore noticeable easily such as the arms, face or neck. It is done by applying a chemical to the desired area and it removes the pigment from the hair.

Shaving

Shaving happens to be the most temporary methods of hair removal because it simply cuts the hair at the skin surface. Shaving does not make the shaft of the hair thicker, darker or help it grow faster. The short shaft of hair can only get noticeable as it grows out or will have a blunt tip instead of a tapered one. You should do shaving after applying a moisturizer to the skin as this will help the razor to glide smoothly and not cut or scrape the skin. Shaving is good for any area of the back, shoulders or buttocks. It is also possible to shave the genital area but it is not recommended.

Depilatories/cream hair removers/growth inhibitors

These are chemical compounds that can be suspended in a gel or a cream and they will attack the proteins in hair and dissolve them.  This will cause the hair to become loose and will fall instantly. Depilatory creams dissolve the hair at the base of the follicle and they are ideal for widespread areas like the legs but can be problematic if they are used on the face. They can easily irritate the skin and may not remove all the hairs. They are also among the cheapest ways to deal with unwanted hair. Growth inhibitors retard the growth of hair through a daily application.

This method works well for back, chest, arms, and legs. The skin around the face and the genitals are too sensitive for this application. The process will take you about 30 to 60 minutes although the compounds are allowed to sit on your skin for only about 5 minutes alone. The results of this process could take you several weeks before you need another touch of it.

Waxing/sugaring

Waxing is a very effective and quick method or removing unwanted hair over large areas of the skin. The wax is warmed and then spread easily over the skin in the direction of hair growth. The hair is then embedded in the wax which is left to cool and firm the grasp. The wax is then quickly pulled off in the opposite direction of the hair growth so that it comes out of the follicles. Cold waves are also available and they come attached to strips, which are patted on the skin. Any wax that is left on the skin must be peeled or scratched off. When heating the wax the precaution should be not to burn the skin.

Another popular option is called sugaring which works in the same way like traditional waxing. You apply a thick sugary substance that is similar to caramel on the skin in the direction of hair growth. Then a cloth or paper strip is patted on the caramel and then pulled of in the opposite direction of hair growth, bringing out the hairs out of their follicles. The advantage that sugaring has over the traditional waxing is the clean up process. The sugar substance is water soluble and can be easily removed by rinsing with water unlike waxing.  The process can take a minimum of 10 minutes and above depending on the size of the area to be waxed or sugared.

Epilators

A hand held epilator is some special high speed tweezing mechanism or spinning discs that will grasp individual hairs and pluck them out. All that you do is to simply glide the device in small circular movements over the area you want to epilate. Once the hair is removed by the root, it will take about one or two weeks before it returns and so you can have some good hairless features for a little while.

The only downside with this method is that it will hurt a little bit and because it takes longer than waxing or sugaring the pain takes much longer. If you are not the person to withstand some pain for long you will not have any results with an epilator. You might as well develop some red bumps where the hair got pulled out from.  You need to stretch your skin as much as possible during the whole exercise as this will help prevent or reduce the red bumps, or bleeding that is caused by the skin being pulled out of placeby the hair.

Electrolysis

What it does: Using an ultra-slim needle to penetrate each individual hair shaft, this system delivers tiny shocks of electricity to the hair follicle, killing the cells that actually make hair. Once a cell is gone, it’s gone, so no hair will grow there again. It is permanent. You might have redness and swelling of the treated area, but this should go within a few hours.

This process takes a long time since the hairs are treated individually and you may need many sessions to remove hair permanently.
