There are things that are natural and which can not be prevented from taking place under the blue sky and the natural aging process seems to be one of them. Whereas in the older days it used to be seen as a pleasurable thing, today very few people want to be associated with old age. The appearance of wrinkles may look like an obvious part of the process but fortunately it can actually be slowed down.

One of the natural processes that cannot be prevented is the process of aging that brings in its wake the slowing down and sometimes shutting down of some of the systems of the body. And as such we simply discover we cannot avoid it but then the ravages that come in what other people call natural can be slowed down if not completely prevented. When age comes knocking there is only so much that we can do to prevent it. One of the most obvious signs they you are actually getting older is the appearance of those unsightly lines and bags on your face. There are people who can do anything to ensure they do not appear. Since there is nothing we can do about aging, it is good to note that here is much we can do about the signs that come with it, especially those immature wrinkles.

The skin is made up of three specific layers in order to keep the rest of the body safe from natural elements. In one of the layers is produced collagen, a substance which gives the skin the ability to be elastic and stretch. When the production of collagen is affected by anything then the skin can no longer stretch as it naturally does and it begins sagging and automatically the wrinkles appear. It is therefore good to note that there are several factors that contribute to the breaking down of this collagen and if they are well taken care of they can easily slow down the so called aging process. These are basically issues of lifestyle and so personal choice becomes a very important part of the whole process.

One of the greatest enemies of the skin is cigarette smoke which inhibits the natural production of collagen. Just look at the majority of the smoking population and you will see they have more premature wrinkles than the rest of the people. This is all because the substances in cigarette smoke inhibit the flow of blood to the extremities and that means blood does not reach the ends of the skin as it should. That causes your skin die faster and when there is a wound on the skin it will not heal as fast as it should. You therefore do your skin a great favor by avoiding cigarette smoke at all costs.

The second culprit is exposure to the sun which has some dangerous rays that will burn up your skin and kill collagen as well. So anything that you can do avoid direct of your skin to the sun will do it such a great favor in slowing down the appearance of wrinkles thus slowing down the ravages of the aging process as it were.  The world has lost the protective cover against dangerous sun’s rays – the ozone layer – which makes the sun more injurious than it was several years ago. The most dangerous times to be exposed to the sun’s rays are between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. ensure you have a sunscreen when you go out at those hours and put on sun glasses as well.

Soaps, detergents and other body cleansing products also play a big role in the whole process because they do more than just cleanse your face. There are many skin cleansing products out there that claim to take care of signs of aging but in actual fat they aggravate them. Avoid using strong soaps and detergents, hot water, because instead of reducing the effect of wrinkles, some of them make it worse by killing the top layer of the skin leaving you more exposed than you intended. You will discover that all it will take to slow down the inevitable aging process is to change a few lifestyle habits and you will be on your way to a smoother wrinkle free skin.
